More Gotcha day pics

Today was such a full day. After taking a break this afternoon we headed to the Civil Affairs office to finish the adoption paperwork. In the eyes of China Jacob is officially ours. Now we just have to finish the American side of the adoption next week in Guangzhou. For now we have to stay here in Zhengzhou until his passport is ready on Friday. We then fly out on Saturday. Tomorrow we are going shopping for the orphanage donations and then we will head to the orphanage on Thursday. We will meet the nannies that helped to take care of Jacob and learn more about him. I did find out today that he did stay in the orphanage during the day and went to the foster family at night and on weekends. He never cried today. he only got fussy at one point when we carried him to the street rather then putting him in his stroller. We bought a second stroller yesterday so we would have one for him as well and he loves it. he does well in the car, eats like crazy and layed down and went straight to bed. he was exhausted I am sure. He didn't want us to undress him this afternoon. It was a bit of a struggle to get him to agree to get out of those pink pants. But by this evening he trusted us enough to even take a bath. He says "naow naow" when he needs to go potty so now Annabel is saying it and taking off her pants as well. Maybe we will have her potty trained with Jacobs help. haha He didn't have any accidents today. He did great. He does have many old bite marks on his legs from bug bites. Annabel did as well. I hope for his sake they disappear over time. Poor thing. He is so tiny for his age. His body is totally proportional for his size and he acts perfectly healthy. He just has little tiny bones under those tiny little arms and legs. I am looking forward to getting a full medical exam and tests run on him. Children's hospital already told me they will do a bone scan and teeth xrays to see if it might be possible his age is off by a year. But even if it isn't, that is fine. There are plenty of small men in China and it is quite possible that both of his parents were under 5 foot tall. Another possibility is that he could have a food allergy that is slowing his growth. We will get him tested for that right away as well. But dont let his small size fool you. Annabel did something today to make him mad and he turned into a football quarterback and tried to take her down. I learned "do not hit" in Chinese real fast and our guide spoke to him as well. Dont think Annabel was an innocent bystander though. I dont remember what it was she did, but she was showing her jealousy and being a bit hard on him. It has been a tough day for Annabel. Bless her heart. She knew Jacob was a person on a computer, but to have to share her mommy and daddy with him is another story. She has wanted to do everything he does. There is a lot of competition going on there. we have done a lot of sharing of the lap today. By tonight after he took his bath she seemed really great with him. He layed down in his crib and went to sleep and then she layed down in her make shift bed next to me and went to sleep. By the way, his shoes are on him in bed right now. After I put him in his PJ's he put them back on. He also wont let go of the photo album we gave him and his stuffed animal. He carries them everywhere with him. I really thought when he put on his shoes he was going to try to walk out, but he didnt. I dont think he wanted to leave. I think he just wanted to make sure he got his shoes back. They were the tennis shoes we gave him when he first came to the room today. He loves them. Well everyone is in bed. Mark and the kids got back from swimming a bit ago and I am tired too. Thanks for following along and please continue to pray for little Jacob and Annabel as well. God gave us an amazing little boy who I know is going to do big things one day. Praise God he is going to live in a home with a family and friends who love him for who he is and not how tall he might be one day. Thank you God for your blessings. You went before us in this adoption and truly carved a smooth path for us up to this point. Thank you Lord.

Happy Jacob Day! I could hardly wait last night for it to be our Tuesday already so I could see your pictures! What a happy little guy. He looks like he fits right in.

You can truly see in your faces and by your postings the hand of God in all of this. What a peace that is. Anabel and Jacob have truly won the lottery with you, Mark, Amber and Joey!

Can't wait to see all of you together!

God Bless and Safe Travels,

Curt and Susan

Hi Tamara,
Oh my goodness, what a sweet little guy you have. Such a blessing. I am so thrilled to hear that Jacob is doing so well and has bonded so beautifully. How much does our God love these little kids?????
We have changed plans a little and are going to stay at the Victory...the WS is just sooooo expensive. Maybe we can have dinner at Lucy's one night?
Rejoicing with you!
