Day 2 with Jacob and Orphanage Shopping

Today was another great day for our family. Annabel was the first to wake up and she immediately wanted to play with Jacob. Jacob was still asleep so she proceeded to shake his crib until he woke up. He opened his eyes and I said good morning and he just grinned from ear to ear. He never woke up in the middle of the night and he woke up dry. Mark put him on the potty and he did his business and off he went about his morning. He woke up in a great mood. After such a great day yesterday I was expecting him to cry a lot today but he didn't. He started to cry once at breakfast because he had a loose stool and didn't make it to the bathroom. That is to be expected with his huge change in diet. Thankfully I had him in a pull up. He had loose stools a couple of times again during the day but he did it on the toilet. He even used a squatty potty today at lunch. So I guess he is totally potty trained. We love it. we have actually had to stop him from eating at each meal because he eats EVERYTHING we put in front of him. He is enjoying all the flavors. My favorite part of the day was when he called me "mama". It was awesome. I don't know what else he said to me as he was speaking in Mandarin but he important thing is that he was talking to me and called me "mama". Today we did all of our shopping for the orphanage. Members of our church gave us a total of $430 in cash to purchase items here in China. You can get ALOT of stuff with $430 American dollars. We had to actually take a taxi and go back a second time in order to spend all the money. We ran out of hands with the first load. Ladies were following us all around the store. They must have thought we were multi millionaires because we filled 2 overflowing carts the first time and one the second. Plus we had to carry a bunch that wouldn't fit into the carts. We had soooooo much fun shopping for those kids. I included all the photos. We had to lay everything out 4 times in order to get everything into the photos. The picture of the clothes on the floor was another duffle bag full of items we brought from America and donated in Beijing to New Day Foster Home. They are always getting babies who need surgeries so we thought they could use the 44 pounds of baby clothes and cleft bottles. Today we purchased at least 40 tooth brushes, dozens of clothes, many for older kids, 15 pairs of really nice tennis shoes, several balls, lots of underwear and socks, coloring books and crayons, baby formula, Lincoln logs, big stacking blocks, jackets, pants, lots of toothpaste, bottles, plastic golf set, and lots lots more. Just look at the photos below. I cannot wait to present them tomorrow as a love offering from our church. Thanks again to all who helped us make that happen. I still cannot get over how much $430 American dollars buys here. It was fun watching the locals take our pictures again today. Annabel and Jacob got along very well today considering all they have both been through. The best was when Jacob fell down and started to cry a little. I walked over to give him some love and Annabel through herself on the floor and started yelling "ouch". Such a drama queen. We just keep making certain we love on both of them equally and give her opportunities to help us so she can feel like a big girl. She loves ordering him around and giving him advice on what he should be doing. But you probably already knew that about her. haha He is talking up a storm but unfortunately we don't understand him. He is very quickly picking up words and sign language though. He has mastered asking us for more food. haha Thank you for your continued prayers. We can definitely feel Gods presence in our lives right now. He has truly blessed us with a sweet and affectionate little boy.

Thank you so much for doing the orphanage donating and especially buying for the older kids of the orphanage too. I had a real soft spot for that in my heart and I appreciate you doing that.

Congratulations on him saying "Mama" to you.

Wow! I can't believe how much your son and daughter have grown! My heart is overflowing with joy as I looked at the pictures and read that ya'll are adopting a second child from China. The crowns you will have in Heaven for following God's example of adoption! Danielle sent me an e-mail with the link and that is how I found out. You are not forgotten and we will be praying for you as you finish up the adoption process and bring Jacob home. You have a beautiful family (all 6 of you)! Love you!
